Documents

Bulk updates, deleted documents, missing documents, PDFs that won't upload, and permits

Q: Does Digital Permit Book issue permits?

A: No. DPB stores and organizes your permits and other documents, tracks their expiry dates, and makes them easy for drivers to show at inspections. To get a new permit, apply with the state or agency that issues it, then upload it to DPB.

Q: How do I update or download many documents at once?

A: Use bulk actions:

  1. Go to Documents > All (or Vehicle, Trailer, Driver, or Company).

  2. Select the documents using the checkboxes. To select more at once, change the rows per page at the bottom of the list (up to 100).

  3. Open the ⋯ menu in the top-right corner and choose an action, such as Download, or update the Doc Type, Description, or Expiry Date for all of them.

Q: Can I recover a deleted document?

A: No. Deleted documents are permanently removed and can't be restored. If you might need a document later, archive it instead. Archived documents are hidden from drivers and expiry reports but stay in the Archived tab. See Archive.

Q: My driver doesn't see the newest document. Why?

A: Check these:

  • Make sure the Driver switch is on for the new document. See Driver and DOT Mode Visibility.

  • If there are two copies of the same document, archive the old one. To do this automatically, turn on Auto Archive (On Update) for that type in Settings > Doc Types.

  • Check that the document is on the right driver or unit. If the driver uses a different truck, it may be on that truck instead.

Q: My PDF won't upload. What should I do?

A: The PDF is most likely password-protected or secured. Open it, print it to a new PDF (or use Save As PDF), and upload the new copy. If it still won't upload, contact [email protected] and attach the file.

Q: Why isn't a document showing on the Dashboard as expiring?

A: The Dashboard only counts documents that have an Expiry Date. If there are several documents of the same type on one driver or unit, only the one with the latest expiry date counts. See Manage Documents.

Q: Why isn't a document type showing in the Missing Documents report?

A: Only doc types with Required turned on are checked. Go to Settings > Doc Types, edit the type, and set Required to Yes.
