Every document in Digital Permit Book has two switches that control who can see it: Driver and DOT Mode. A blue switch means it's on.
Driver – when on, drivers can see the document in the driver app.
DOT Mode – when on, the document is shown when a driver opens DOT Mode for an inspection. When it's off, drivers won't see that document inside DOT Mode.
DOT Mode is off by default. Drivers only have DOT Mode after your company turns it on in Settings > Driver App.
Set visibility when adding a document
Go to Documents and click Add Document.
Choose Manual Upload and fill in the document details.
At the bottom of the form, turn the Driver and Dot Mode switches on or off. Both are on by default.
Click Save.
Change visibility for an existing document
Open any document list under Documents: All, Vehicle, Trailer, Driver, Company, or Tag Doc.
Find the document and click the switch in the Driver or Dot Mode column to turn it on or off.
Common examples
Registration, insurance, permits: leave both on so drivers can show them at a roadside inspection.
Documents drivers need but inspectors don't: keep Driver on and turn DOT Mode off. This keeps the DOT Mode view short and easy to use at a stop.
Office-only documents such as contracts: turn Driver off.
Tip: For handbooks, safety manuals, and other reference material, use Documents > Resources & AI instead. Drivers see these in their own tab, and they don't clutter DOT Mode.
